Esteban serves at KOMO-TV as a Weekend Evening Co-Anchor and weekday reporter. Before joining KOMO-TV she worked in Phoenix, Pittsburgh, and Steubenville, Ohio. Esteban has 10 Regional Emmy awards – two for her reporting on Inflammatory Breast Cancer. She discovered most patients never heard of IBC until they got it. Esteban’s reports triggered a chain reaction of IBC reporting around the country and the nation’s first IBC Clinic opened in Houston, Texas in October of 2006.
In 2008, she won the prestigious Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for her reporting that showed that a cell phone turned off could spy on you- her report showed how software could be used against you to listen in on your phone conversations and for that matter any conversations in the vicinity of your phone. In 2008 and 2010, she won the Regional Emmy for Best Reporter.
Esteban took home two Emmys for her Problem Solver Reports on James O’Neal’s’ The Man with Half a Face.’ Esteban’s reports told the story of O’Neal who was born with a genetic disorder that covered half his face with tumors. Despite his disfigurement James O’Neal chose to never hide – his inspirational story prompted viewers to donate money for reconstructive surgery.
When she is not storytelling, she is on the golf course as much as possible. Esteban adores Washington’s backcountry and being on the water; hiking, yoga, skiing and snowshoeing, show tunes, traveling, Frank Sinatra, and spending time with family.
