Martin is an Emmy award-winning reporter and contributor at NPR. She joined the station in 2006 and launched a one-hour daily NPR news and talk show, ‘Tell Me More,’  that aired on NPR stations nationwide from 2007 to 2014. In the show, she dipped into thousands of important conversations taking place in the corridors of power, but also in houses of beauty shops, barbershops, and worship at PTA meetings, town halls, and at the kitchen table.

Now she serves as host of the Consider This Saturday podcast and the weekend host of All Things Considered. She draws on her deep reporting and interviewing experience to dig into the week’s news. In addition, she hosted “Michel Martin: Going There,” outside the studio. It is an ambitious live event series in collaboration with Member Stations.

Martin has over 25 years of experience as a journalist, first in print with major newspapers followed by in television. Her debut as a full-time public radio show host was at the Tell Me More show. She says that what makes public radio special is that it’s got both intimacies and reach all at once because for the cost of a phone call, she can take you around the world. But she is right with you in your car, kitchen, iPod, or in the living room. The radio itself is an incredible tool.
