Although Strahan did not start playing high school football until his senior year at Westbury High School, he did play organized football in 1985 at Mannheim American High School (MAHS), a US Department of Defense Dependent High School in Käfertal (Mannheim), as a linebacker for the Mannheim Bison. Strahan’s father sent him to live with his uncle Arthur in Houston the summer before his senior year of high school so he could attend Westbury High School. Strahan only played one season of football, but it was enough to earn him a scholarship from Texas Southern University. He then returned to Germany for the spring semester, graduating from Mannheim Christian.
