Michael Rinker is an American Sports Director and News Anchor, working for WDHN-TV since joining the station in June 2020. He co-anchors the midday and morning shows, and Wake Up Wiregrass, alongside Katrice Nolan. Those shows air from 5 to 7 am from Monday to Friday, and Daytime starts at 11 am. He began as a Sports Director at the station, then after 7 months, he now became the News Co-anchor.
Rinker participated in a variety of sports as a kid, including wrestling, baseball, soccer, and football. Wrestling became his interest once he entered high school, as both his father and grandfather were division one wrestler.
He is a proud alumnus of Massaponax High School and West Virginia University. He graduated from the university with a major in Broadcast Journalism, as well as a minor in Sports Communications in May of 2020. Rinker worked for the athletic department as a Mountaineer, primarily assisting the school’s media department with game-day telecasts. Also, he was the Sports Anchor and main News Anchor for WVU news, a student-run newscast.
During his leisure, he likes going on a hike or doing anything to do with sports, e.g. playing or watching sports. Also, he loves spending time in the neighborhood. He enjoys the community and how enthusiastic the state is about football in his short time in Dothan, and is a member of First Presbyterian Church.
