Badcock works as a Freelance Investigative Reporter in Florida, United States. Prior to this, she was working for WKMG News serving as an Investigative Reporter. Previously she also worked for WPTV in West Palm Beach, Florida Area serving the team as a Contact 5 Investigative Reporter. She undertook this role between July 2017 and July 2020.
Badcock specializes in crime investigations and her focus is on telling stories that will change her viewer’s life and the community for the better. She has also previously worked for WTKR/WGNT, the CBS/CW affiliate station in Norfolk, Virginia. After this, she went on to become one of the station’s lead investigative reporters.
Badcock’s work uncovered the shady history of an accused serial killer and the joint state and FBI investigation into her past. Asides from this, her investigations into teacher salary discrepancies secured raises for teachers in districts that originally wanted to take away salary bumps.
Asides from her role as an Investigative Reporter, she was also serving as a general assignments reporter. This was while actively covering breaking news, jailhouse interviews, high-profile court cases, and going 0 – 165 miles per hour in two seconds while visiting one of the most dangerous environments in the world: the flight deck of an active Navy aircraft carrier.
She began her broadcasting career working for WDMV in Maryland. Her investigations into the heroin epidemic inspired the formation of several regional coalitions across the four-state coverage area. It also inspired the beginnings of a government-sponsored recovery center in Berkeley County, West Virginia.
She not only covered drugs as one of her stories brought her inside the White House in order to cover President Obama’s Presidential Medal of Freedom ceremony. She states that one of the coolest experiences she had, while she was a rookie reporter, was going live from the North White House lawn. During her time at WDVM News, she was also serving as the primary fill-in anchor for all newscasts.
A Central Florida native, Merris grew up with lots of pets, including a potbelly pig named Rambo and a herd of goats named after fruits and vegetables. She is an honors graduate of Florida State University, and during her time in Tallahassee, found her love for broadcasting reporting for Seminole Sports Magazine and SunSports (now Fox Sports Florida).

For her it is hard to pull her away from work, however, away from work, she enjoys working out, traveling to new places, cheering on the Florida State Seminoles, trying new restaurants, and visiting the beautiful South Florida beaches.
