Prior to making his move to Philadelphia, he was working for AccuWeather News in State College, Pennsylvania. There, he was still serving as a Bilingual Meteorologist. Prior to this, he was working for Entravision Communications in Orlando, Florida serving the station as a Multimedia Journalist.
Over the course of his career, he gained experience covering all types of severe weather across the country. For him, the hurricane season is very important. Some of the hurricanes he was privileged to cover include Matthew, Ida, Florence, Maria, Eta, Michael, Laura, and Iota. Gómez stated that he is very happy to be forecasting the weather in Philly, a city that is very familiar with impacts from tropical systems.
He also stated that having lived in Central Pennsylvania for over four years, he is thrilled to be back in a city rich in History and endless restaurants to try every week. Asides from this, this is an opportunity to reconnect with his Hispanic culture.
During his time at AccuWeather, he became the first Latino Central American Meteorologist on an English language Network. Being fluent in English and Spanish, his goal is to learn the Italian language next. For Marvin, promoting and encouraging higher education is an important course that he is very passionate about. Away from work, he enjoys hiking and exploring state and national parks.
