Mark Dixon is an American Meteorologist working for WFSB-TV (CBS Affiliate) in Hartford, Connecticut as a chief meteorologist. He joined the station in July 2003.

Dixon is a proud graduate of the University of Oklahoma. He attended the university in 1997 and graduated 4 years later with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Meteorology. When it comes to his profession, Dixon serves at WFSB as a Chief Meteorologist. Before joining the station, he served at KARK-TV in Little Rock, Arkansas as a meteorologist for 2 years. Dixon has been passionate about the weather since he was young. When he was 8 years old, he declared his major as a Cub Scout! when touring a TV station in his hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma. His love for the weather was rising while growing up in the heart of Tornado Alley.
While in high school (as a junior), he interned at KJRH-TV in Tulsa, Oklahoma for a year. Dixon started his on-air career as a junior in college, at KJRH. Upon graduation from college, he now went to work for KARK-TV. Dixon was also actively involved in the development and inception of KARK’s local WeatherNet. Over the years of his career, he has extensively experienced all types of extreme weather. He has worked with a retired meteorologist who worked as a forecaster of New England weather for more than 4 decades, Bruce DePrest. His experience with Bruce enabled Dixon to sharpen his forecasting abilities in the realm of winter storms.
Dixon says that the things he likes about Connecticut are the diversity of the weather – nor’easters, tropical weather, severe weather, and gorgeous autumn. Besides working for WFSB, Dixon has also been active in the Connecticut Science Center since it was only a parking lot in Hartford. He has hosted WFSB’s “Cool Schools” franchise for 4 years. At the franchise, he was able to showcase all the unique and fun things at schools across the state.
Dixon has earned multiple honors and accolades throughout his journalism career. While at KARK, the Associated Press awarded him the “Best Weather Segment Award” for a summer heat demonstration. He is also a proud nominee of many Emmy Awards for weather anchoring. The Connecticut Associated Press Broadcaster’s Association has also honored him with the award for “Best Weathercast,” on multiple occasions. Dixon also holds the American Meteorological Society’s Seal of Approval.
