Prior to working at MLB Network, he worked as a baseball player and accumulated a total of batted .268 with 494 RBI and 100 home runs. He kickstarted his baseball career playing for the Atlanta Braves from 1998 to 2004. His next stop was at the Texas Rangers where he played from 2005 to 2006 and later on at the Chicago Cubs from 2007 to 2008. In the year 2009, he played for the Cleveland Indians and the St. Louis Cardinals. From 2010 to 2011, he played for the Giants and played for the Washington Nationals in 2012. In 2013, he played for the Toronto Blue Jays after signing a $775,000 one-year deal for the 2013 season.
DeRosa has also received a ton of awards including the John Cerutti Award as well as the Toronto chapter of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America Award.
