Marianne Favro Career
Favro serves as a reporter for NBC Bay Area who had also worked for other stations prior to joining NBC Bay Area. Before joining NBC Bay Area, Favro worked in San Luis Obispo, California as an anchor and reporter for seven years. She started her career at a news radio station in Santa Barbara where she worked as an anchor and reporter.
In 2006, she was nominated by The Associated Press for Reporter of the Year for 2006. Favro also received the Surgeon General’s Award for Best Medical Reporting.
Throughout her career, Favro has received five Emmy Awards. One was for working with horses to improve patient skills: the story about Stanford medical students. Her recent Emmy was for coverage of the Ghost Ship warehouse fire in Oakland. She was among broadcast journalists awarded the “Knight Fellowship” to attend a special program for journalists at the Centers for Disease Control.
Favro enjoys the blee of her job including meeting new people, always learning, and making a difference by providing important information. Her other professional achievements include a Golden Microphone Award for Best Newscast, which she anchored and produced. From the Radio and Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) she won the best Serious Feature Award for a profile of a local Titanic survivor.
