She previously worked at CNN where she served as an anchor/correspondent at CNN and previously hosted “First Look” on MSNBC and “Early Today” on NBC. Smith began working for MSNBC in January 2010. Since January 2009, she has worked as a General Assignment Reporter and fill-in anchor for WNBC-News 4 New York. Smith came to WNBC from NBC-owned WCAU in Philadelphia, where she had been a general assignment reporter since June 2007.
Her role was expanded in January 2008, when she was promoted to co-anchor of “NBC 10 Weekend Today” on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Prior to joining WCAU, she worked as an Associate Producer on NBC’s “Today” show for two years before being promoted to Producer.
When she became an Online Correspondent for todayshow.com in 2007, her role expanded to the other side of the camera, and several of her pieces were featured on “Today.” She also worked as a General Assignment Reporter for NBC-owned Hartford, Connecticut station WVIT. She was also awarded a prestigious internship with the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles after graduation. She joined NBC’s Page Program in Los Angeles in 2001 before relocating to the East Coast to pursue her passion for news.
