In 2007, he joined The University of Oklahoma where he attained his Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology in 2010. He also studied automotive engineering and worked part-time in a beer distribution warehouse where he loaded trucks using a forklift. In addition to that, he also interned at KWTV in Oklahoma City alongside Michael Armstrong and Gary England.
Dorris, later on, moved on to work at KLKN based in Lincoln, Nebraska where he served as the chief meteorologist. During his tenure at KLKN, he enclosed several extreme weather events including severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, and snow storms. Furthermore, the American Meteorological Society honored him with the certified broadcast meteorologist designation. Whenever he is not working, he enjoys spending his free time with his family and friends.
