In 1986, Aguirre joined Université Paris-Sorbonne where he studied French Literature 18th, 19th, and 20th Centuries and Intensive French Grammar Pronunciation Phonetics. Aguirre serves as the weekday 3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. co-anchor. In addition to these roles at WPLG, he also serves as the 10 p.m. Local 10 newscast anchor on WSFL. From July 2014 to March 2022, he worked at The Insider where he served as a co-anchor based in Hollywood, California. Prior to joining WPLG Local 10 News, he worked at WSVN Channel7 where he served as the co-host of Deco Drive based in Miami, Florida. While still at WSVN, he also served as the chief entertainment correspondent, charged with producing content relevant o the big entertainment stories of the day.
Prior to that, he worked at FOX News Channel based in New York where he served as the co-anchor of Fox and Friends from 1996 to 1999. He also anchored the midday newscast, Fox Cross County as well as presented the morning newscast. From 1995 to 1996, he worked at 20th TV where he served as the current affairs correspondent. He is also an active volunteer at Best Buddies International.
Over the years, he has won several awards and honors including four Emmy awards for environmental reporting. He also received the Esserman-Knight Foundation Journalism award for the primetime series Saving Biscayne Bay. Furthermore, the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce honored him with the “Good 2 Green” award.
Aguirre was also honored with a commendation from the City of Miami Beach, with a commendation from the Miami-Dade County Board of Commissioners, and was also inducted into the Boys and Girls Club Hall of Fame. Whenever he is not busy working, he enjoys spending his free time with his family and friends.
