Lisa Spooner Career
Spooner serves as an anchor at NBC2 News and was responsible for covering the news every morning on a national level and covered major national breaking news for the three-hour show example the explosion in West, Texas, and the Boston Marathon bombings. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from Texas A&M University. Spooner started her career in television at a station in the Houston area, where she was the primary anchor.
Later, she moved to CBS 19 Eyewitness News in Tyler, Texas, where she started anchoring their Primetime at 5 newscasts before quickly being raised to add the 6, 6:30, and 10 pm newscasts – while adding the title of Managing Editor to her duties.
Spooner decided to give the morning show a whirl after many years of working the evening shift. She decided it was time to move on after spending more than five years in East Texas. She is not new to Southwest Florida, having anchored the morning show for Fox 4 after departing from the Lone Star State.
Spooner won the name of Miss Texas in 2002 and competed that fall in the nationally televised Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City. She won a preliminary interview award and was named a Top Ten Finalist during the pageant.
