Lisa Hughes Career
Hughes serves at WBZ-TV as an anchor of WBZ-TV News on weekdays at 5 PM, 6 PM, and 11 PM with co-anchor David Wade. Before joining the station, she was working as a reporter for CBS Newspath, the CBS-TV Station Group’s satellite news service. Lisa is also involved in a variety of charitable and community groups. She is a member of the Big Sister Boston board of trustees, and the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital development board, and works with Project 351, Children’s Hospital Boston, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dorchester. Lisa started riding the Pan-Mass Challenge in 2011 to raise money for Dana Farber Cancer Institute. She completed the Boston Marathon in 2002 to raise money for the American Liver Foundation.
She previously worked for KIRO-TV in Seattle as a reporter and weekend anchor, KBCI-TV in Boise, Idaho as a main anchor and reporter, and KCBY-TV in Coos Bay, Oregon as an anchor and reporter. Lisa has covered almost every major news event in New England and has had the privilege of interviewing many of the region’s influential figures.
As part of WBZ-team TV’s coverage of the Boston Marathon Bombings, Lisa won both a 2014 Columbia DuPont Award and a 2013 George Foster Peabody Award. In 2014 and 2016, she won an Emmy Award for Best News Anchor, and she has won both an Emmy Award and an Edward R. Murrow Award for reporting. Lisa was named one of Boston Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People” and “Best TV Personality” in 2020.
