Byington serves at FOX Sports as a play-by-play announcer, studio host, and feature producer/reporter. She has worked as a sports broadcaster for Fox Sports, FS1, Big Ten Network, CBS, Turner Sports, Pac-12 Network, ESPN, and the SEC Network. In the summer of 2019, she called for a boycott of certain FIFA Women’s World Cup matches. In August 2018, Byington co-anchored an MLS game between the New England Revolution and D.C. United with Danielle Slaton and Katie Witham, in what was thought to be the first all-female broadcast of any of the five major men’s professional leagues.
She also works as a play-by-play announcer and reporter for college football and basketball games on FOX Sports and BTN. Byington made history in 2017 when she became the first female play-by-play announcer for a football game on BTN. Byington, a two-sport athlete at Northwestern, played soccer and basketball, advancing her teams to the NCAA Tournaments in both sports and earning Academic All-Big Ten honors. She began her broadcasting career with WBKB-TV in Alpena, Michigan, which was the country’s second-smallest market at the time.
Her next stop was Big Ten country, specifically WLNS-TV in Lansing, Michigan. She first appeared on BTN during the network’s inaugural football weekend in 2007, and she has been a part of the FOX Sports and BTN lineups in a variety of roles for more than a decade. For the past three years, Byington has worked as a March Madness reporter for CBS and Turner, with her first experience coming in 2017. She has also worked as a play-by-play announcer for the local Chicago Bulls broadcast and as a play-by-play announcer for the WNBA’s Chicago Sky.
