Before going to KCRA, she worked as a meteorologist for WJET-TV (ABC) in Erie, Pennslyvania, for 3 years. In Pennslyvania, she had an experience with quite a variety of weather patterns such as record-breaking cold, lake-effect snow, tornadoes, and severe thunderstorms. Truong began her journalism career at an ABC-affiliated station in Northern California where she worked as a meteorologist. From there she now went to work for WJET. She has worked for Consumes River College as an editor of features. There she reviewed a lot of music and films.
Truong has always been passionate about journalism. She aspired to become a newspaper reporter when she was young but again she came to quickly realize a love for meteorology. She has never turned back on TV weather forecasting and she has been a broadcast meteorologist since the year 2009. Truong says that she believes in mentoring, treating others the same way you would want to be treated, and living life to the fullest.
