She traveled with so many migrants in the month of April through México and told their stories, as well as covered the complexities of the immigration system and the journey.
Santiago has worked for KBAK/KBFX in Bakersfield, California as a morning news anchor. She has also served at KTUU-TV in Anchorage, Alaska as a news reporter. Additionally, Santiago has worked for NBC29 in Charlottesville, Virginia as a news reporter. Santiago holds Emmy awards for covering the crippling winter storm in Raleigh in the year 2014, as well as wildfires in California in the year 2010. She was honored with the Mark Twain Award in the year 2011 by the Associated Press for best news anchor.
