Kyle Deckelbaum is an American Emmy Award-winning Sports Anchor/Reporter currently working for KATV since joining the station in September of 2014. He currently reports sports from Monday to Friday and anchors sports on Saturdays and Sundays.
Previously, he was in La Crosse, Wisconsin, working for a dual CBS / MyNetworkTV-affiliated TV station, WKBT-TV. He stayed there for 2 years and 5 months, working as a Sports Anchor/Reporter. He was the Wisconsin Badgers’ beat reporter at the time there(and current Razorbacks coach Bret Bielema).
Deckelbaum is a proud alumnus of the University of Wisconsin, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism in the year 2012. During his time at the university, he worked for a student radio station, WSUM for 3 years, where he held the positions of Sports and News Director. There, he worked for the Big Ten Network as a play-by-play announcer. He also hosted the Big Ten Football Championship Game, the Rose Bowl, “March Madness,” and the Big Ten Tournament, among other events.
Deckelbaum has also worked as an intern at different companies: WJLA-TV, KATV’s sister station, Washington Nationals, and the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network. Also, he has worked as a Production Assistant for MASN in Washington D.C. Metro Area, for 5 months.
Deckelbaum’s work has been recognized with an Edward R. Murrow Award and an Emmy nomination for a story about a blind swimmer. He was also nominated for an Emmy for his work on a college soccer player’s dramatic comeback after brain surgery and sportsmen participating on a collegiate rodeo team. The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association awarded him “Best Sports Reporting” for his report about a coach battling illness. For his coverage of the Green Bay Packers, he was awarded “Best Sportscast” by the same organization.
He has also got recognition by the Milwaukee Press Club, the Arkansas Associated Press Broadcasters Association, as well as the Sportscasters Talent Agency of America, the Northwest Broadcast News Association. The Sportscasters Talent Agency of America named Deckelbaum one of the top 20 sportscasters in the country.
