Kurtis Ming Education
Ming went to El Camino High School and attained his High School Diploma in June 1996. He, later on, joined Emerson College in Boston where he attained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism and Public Information in 1999. During his time in college, he was active in several activities and societies including Zeta Phi Eta. In addition to that, he was also the founder of Emerson College’s Student-Run TV Station called WEBN and also reported and anchored for WERS-FM.

Prior to these roles at the station, she served as the weekend anchor and general assignment reporter as well as the “Call Kurtis” consumer advocacy program. Since he started his journey at CBS 13 News, he has managed to investigate and reported several stories including terrorism from Pakistan, going to Mexico to help viewers with a timeshare refund, and tensions between South and North Korea from the DMZ. Furthermore, he has also reported on natural disasters including Hurricane Katrina, the shores of Phuket, Thailand, and tsunamis.
Ming also exposed how the California Medical Board allowed doctors with alcohol and drug problems to resume treating patients. After this exclusive report, the state fired all its problem-plagued doctor’s diversion programs. He also investigated Walmart’s gift receipt practices which made Congress for a federal investigation. Furthermore, he also unmasked a security flaw in a state website unmasking the personal information of tens of thousands of unemployed Californians.
In June 2015, he went to Germany and worked at RADIO & TELEVISION NEWS DIRECTORS FOUNDATION where he was a RIAS Berlin Kommission US-Germany Exchange Fellow. He also spent about 1 month at East-West Center where he was a Pakistan-US Journalism Exchange Fellow in March 2013. Prior to joining CBS 13 News, he worked at KTVN 2 News where he served as a reporter and anchor from 2001 to 2003.
Before that, he worked as a reporter and anchor at KRCR-TV NewsChannel 7 where he served as the weekend anchor, weekday reporter, and forecaster in Redding, California, USA. From December 1998 to May 1999, he worked at KCOP-TV where he served as a desk assistant, writer, and field producer in Los Angeles, California. Prior to that, he spent about 6 months as an assistant producer and intern at NBC News in Burbank, California.
