Kevin was a basketball scholarship student at Kansas State University; he left the Kansas State Wildcats men’s basketball team for personal reasons in 1978 and transferred to Oklahoma State University–Stillwater after his freshman year, where he earned a journalism degree from the Paul Miller School of Journalism and Broadcasting in 1982.
