She joined the network in October 2015 and currently serves the station as a Morning News Anchor and Buzz Host, (The FOX 9 Morning Buzz). Prior to joining the FOX 9 news team, she worked for KCPQ-TV in the Greater Seattle Area. While there, she served the station as a Morning Anchor and Reporter anchoring 4:30 a.m. to 5 a.m. morning newscasts, reporting live in the field, the newsroom or studio for the second half of the morning broadcast, and also Primary fill-in Anchor for full morning newscast.
Her career led her across the country after graduating from college. She interned at WCCO where she was responsible for researching stories, setting up interviews for reporters, and assisting reporters in the field. O’Connell spent one year there before heading to Columbus, Georgia. While there, she worked for WRBL-TV as a news reporter for two years. In addition to that, he worked at KGAN TV in Cedar Rapids, IA. While there, she served the station as a news anchor and reporter for three years.
As for her education, she is a proud graduate of The University of Minnesota (go Gophers!). She joined the school in 2003 to further her education. After completing her studies there, she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism and Spanish.
