Prior to this, she previously worked for KXAS/NBC 5 where she served as a weather anchor/reporter before leaving the station in January 2022. Since joining NBC in February 2017, she served as the weekend morning weather anchor who started her broadcasting career in Cheyenne, Wyoming where she worked as a weekend anchor and dayside reporter for KGWN-TV. Later she worked as an anchor and reporter and weather forecaster at KTVZ-TV in Bend, Oregon where she reported anything from harsh weather to crime and politics.
Burns worked as a weather anchor at NWCN-TV and KING 5-TV in Seattle for seven years before joining Dallas. She is also a Southern California native and instantly fell in love with the constantly changing, extraordinary weather of the Pacific Northwest, and the challenge it presents in forecasting. As she joins the NBC 5 weather team she is happy to take on even bigger weather challenges and is excited to call Texas her new home.
Burns attended Cal State University Northridge where she graduated with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism and a Minor in Geography. Furthermore, her hobbies are reading, bike riding, traveling, chasing sunrises and sunsets, and all the moments in between.
