Katrina Pierson is an American communications consultant and Tea Party activist who is best known for being the national spokesperson for the Donald Trump presidential campaign in 2016. She was also a regular CNN contributor during the campaign.

In 2013, Pierson received $11,000 in unemployment benefits from the Texas Workforce Commission. In 2014, she filed out for the U.S. congressional candidate for Texas Republican but was defeated by Pete Sessions with 36 percent of the votes.

In November 2015, she was hired as the national spokesperson for Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, subsequently appearing frequently on television in that capacity, often being seen as one of Trump’s staunchest defenders amidst controversial comments.

Pierson attended a meeting for Tea Party activists in Myrtle Beach with Ted Cruz in January 2015. While she was in Myrtle Beach, she also met with Donald Trump. During the 2016 election cycle, she joined Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and served as the national spokesperson.

She had publicly aligned herself with Trump as early as September 2015. In addition, the FEC records show that Pierson earned $10000 every two weeks for her work from September 2019 to December 2020 during the Trump campaign.

Katrina Pierson Controversy

In 1997, at the age of 20, Pierson was arrested for shoplifting merchandise worth $168 from a J.C. Penney store in Plano, Texas. She pleaded no contest, received deferred adjudication, and ultimately, a dismissal with the case sealed. At the time of the incident, Pierson’s son was three-month-old. She told the authorities that she needed the clothes for job interviews. She has said that the incident helped turn her life around, showing her that mistakes often come with consequences.

Katrina Pierson Ed Henry

Pierson who was the former Trump campaign spokesperson was in the middle of a brewing controversy that rose from  Omarosa Manigault’s promotional book tour. The allegation was that the campaign was aware that a recording existed of Donald Trump using the “n-word,” ostensibly on the set of The Apprentice.

She had an appearance on the very same Fox News program and after she was challenged by  Ed Henry on Omarosa’s account that she had admitted the tape existed she denied it.  However, previously when Omarosa had shared a recording of a conversation about the alleged “n-word” tape she confirmed it really did exist.

In addition, when Henry replayed the clip, the discussion became heated especially for Pierson who is a Trump supporter. She dealt with the apparent inconsistencies of her story by raising a fog of multiple discussions and multiple recordings. 

Pierson succeeded in providing enough confusing details of the allegations that ended up clouding her embarrassment, however, Henry won this round and deserves credit for holding his guest to account for her inconsistencies.
