Her passion for broadcast journalism started at a very young age. Human-interest stories on the local news over cartoons always fascinated Halvorsen. She truly has storytelling character in blood, her grandfather was an investigative crime reporter for the Chicago Daily News.
Throughout her career, she has covered numerous stories that inspire people and ordinary people to overcome obstacles to accomplish extraordinary feats. One of her favorite stories is the one she covered of a burn survivor, a 16-year-old boy. The boy was almost losing his voice because the family was not able to raise $150,000 for surgery. After she covered the story, the community came together and raised the money in three days. The was able to have the procedure that changed his life.
While growing up, she enjoyed her summers waterskiing at her grandparents’ lake house near Minocqua. She is happy to work in Wausau and fascinated to experience everything the badger state has to offer especially the Green Bay Packers. She likes listening to new stories every day and what the community can benefit from.
