Karl Bohnak is an American Meteorologist who is well known for having worked at WLUC-TV in Marquette, Michigan. He now works for Barrington Broadcasting Group, LLC.

Karl Bohnak Career

Bohnak serves at Barrington Broadcasting as an on-camera Meteorologist. Before joining the Barrington Broadcasting Group, he worked for WLUC as a Chief Meteorologist, forecasting weather on weekday mornings alongside Jennifer Perez, who delivers hourly weather reports. He joined WLUC in April 1988 and left in September 2021. 

Bohnak began his television weather career in 1983 and offered all of his knowledge and expertise to media brew Communications listeners. Hourly weather reports from Bohnak started to broadcast on WKQS-FM Sunny 101.9 FM, a radio station broadcasting a bright mainstream adult contemporary format in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan every weekday from Noon to 7:00 p.m. The media blew Communications team is excited to have him on Sunny 101.9. From 1985 to 1988, Bohnak worked for 2 different stations, i.e. WISC-TV in Madison, Wisconsin, and WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee.

Apart from working on air, Bohnak is also an author of various stories. For his published work, “So Cold a Sky, Upper Michigan Weather Stories,” he received the Michigan “Notable Book” Award. Also, he is the holder of the American Meteorological Society Broadcast Seal of Approval.

Karl Bohnak Fired from WLUC

On September 15, 2021, Bohnak announced on his Facebook post that he was fired from WLUC after 33 years as the station’s meteorologist. This was because he refused to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as part of the company’s mandate for all employees.
