James was very active in gymnastics when she was younger and was also the founder of the gymnastics team at her high school. After high school, she attended the University of Oklahoma where she graduated cum laude with her Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. James is a meteorologist who recently helped enclose the 2020 Easter Sunday deadly tornado outbreak which took place in southeast Mississippi. For instance, she previously worked for WBTW where she joined in June 2015 and served as the weekend evening meteorologist. Prior to her tenure at WBTW, she previously worked for WTVA in Tupelo, Mississippi where she served as the weekday morning and noon meteorologist.
While still at WTVA, she earned an Emmy Award nomination for team coverage of an EF-3 tornado in 2013 in Shuqualak, Mississippi. That very year, she was also the first woman in Mississippi to attain the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) seal from the American Meteorological Society. Her career in meteorology started while still in Mississippi whereby she enclosed all types of extreme weather events. some of the weather events she has covered include flooding, tropical systems across multiple southern states as well as tornadoes.
Whenever she is not working, she finds pleasure in spending time at home with her mini poodle Truffles, running, exploring, and swimming. She also loves to volunteer in animal shelters and find homes and owners for some of the animals in the shelters. Additionally, she is also an avid runner who often races in 5Ks, 10Ks, and half marathons. She is also very much active when it comes to her social media platforms including Facebook as well as Twitter.
