Justin Surrency is an American reporter and anchor working for 13 News in Des Moines, Iowa serving as a weekday and weekend reporter. He joined the station in July 2015 after working in Topeka, Kansas at WIBW-TV.

Surrency attended the University of Northern Iowa to further his education. He is a former professional gridiron football wide receiver. Surrency was signed by the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2006. Currently, he is a reporter and anchor working for 13 News in Des Moines, Iowa. He serves the station as the weekday and weekend reporter. Prior to joining the Channel 13 team, he was a weekend evening news anchor and reporter at WIBW-TV in Topeka, Kansas. While there, he covered Game 7 of the 2014 World Series.

During his four years working in the Capital City, he contributed live reports in three Heartland Emmy Award-winning newscasts including one where he provided live reports for 11 hours after two police officers were shot and killed. His love and passion for reporting began when he was a sports intern at WCCO in Minneapolis. While there, he witnessed a large metropolitan newsroom in action, and seeing important issues resolved within the community pushed him to switch from sports to news.

Surrency has always had an affinity for communities with a diverse population. While in college, he was chosen as a captain and led his collegiate football team giving him invaluable experience in leadership. While playing in the NFL, added him an ability to perform under some of the most stressful and high-pressure situations. During his time in college, he was a co-captain of the 2005 National runner-up Northern Iowa Football team. He has played professional football with the Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings. In 2015, he was inducted into his high school athletic hall of fame.
