Prior to that, he spent over 10 years working in the mental health field both teaching students and police how to handle situations with mentally ill individuals. This was when he decided to go after his true dreams and become a broadcast meteorologist.

Stapleton began his meteorologist career while he was still finishing his degree. His professional career started at WCBI in Columbus, Mississippi where he served as the weekend meteorologist. Right after graduating, he became the morning meteorologist for the next two years. He then took off for the beautiful Pacific Northwest to serve as chief meteorologist at KEZI from 2009 to 2014.

Stapleton has managed to enclose weather events that hit the headlines all across America from wildfires in the Northwest to deadly tornadoes in Mississippi. He also enclosed crisis negotiations in Maryland and damaging wind storms.
