Jussie Smollett Attack – Case
On January 29, 2019, American actor Jussie Smollett reported to Chicago police that he was assaulted by two white men wearing MAGA hats. He claimed they yelled racial and homophobic slurs at him, poured an unknown chemical substance on him (possibly bleach), and tied a noose around his neck. This alleged hate crime is widely regarded as “fake” and “staged.”
On April 12, 2019, the city of Chicago filed a lawsuit against Smollett in Cook County Circuit Court for the cost of overtime authorities expended investigating the alleged attack, which totaled $130,105.15. In November 2019, Smollett filed a counter-suit against the city of Chicago, claiming he was the victim of “mass public ridicule and harm” and arguing that he should not be forced to pay for the investigation’s costs.
Smollett was indicted again by a Cook County grand jury on six counts relating to making four false police reports on February 11, 2020, after further investigation by a special prosecutor was completed. Smollett’s claim that his indictment violated his right against double jeopardy was rejected by a judge on June 12, 2020. On November 29, 2021, Smollett’s trial began.

Jussie Smollett The Mighty Ducks
Smollett appeared as Terry Hall in The Mighty Ducks, a 1992 American sports comedy-drama film. The Kerner Entertainment Company and Avnet–Kerner Productions produced it, and Walt Disney Pictures distributed it. The Mighty Ducks is the first film in the series. To avoid confusion with the title of the sequel, some countries printed home-release copies with the title The Mighty Ducks Are the Champions. A year after the film’s release, Disney established an NHL hockey team called the “Mighty Ducks of Anaheim” in honor of the film.
Jussie Smollett Empire
Smollett appeared as Jamal Lyon, the middle son of the Lyon family in Empire, an American musical drama television series. He is a talented gay singer-songwriter who despises the music industry’s corporate culture. Jamal is estranged from his father, who regards him as the family’s black sheep. Cookie’s favorite is Jamal, who has a close relationship with his brother Hakeem.
At the end of the first season, Lucious names Jamal as his successor, and later as interim CEO when Lucious is arrested. Jamal later returns control of the Empire to Lucious. Jamal begins to exhibit PTSD symptoms and a reliance on painkillers after being accidentally shot by Freda Gatz in Season 2. His addiction eventually leads to a stay in rehab.
After Smollett was indicted on charges of staging an assault on himself, his character was removed from the final two episodes of the fifth season. Smollett’s character does not return for the sixth and final season, but he is heavily mentioned, as Jamal and her new husband Kai relocate to London and adopt a baby boy.
Despite not appearing or being credited in the sixth season, Smollett’s contract option for the season was picked up. Jussie Smollett filed a police report on January 22, 2019, regarding a threatening letter sent to Fox Studios, where Empire is filmed.
On January 29, he reported being attacked by two men who yelled “homophobic and racial slurs” at him before hurling an “unknown chemical substance” at him. Jussie Smollett Alien: Covenant
Smollett appeared as Ricks, the Covenant’s navigator and Upworth’s husband in Alien: Covenant, a 2017 science fiction horror film. Prior to the release of Prometheus in 2012, Ridley Scott discussed the possibility of a sequel and a new trilogy, and this film was confirmed in August of that year.
Principal photography began on April 4, 2016, at Milford Sound in New Zealand’s Fiordland National Park and ended on July 19, 2016. Makeup and animatronic creature effects were provided by Odd Studios and CreatureNFX.
Scott stated that the film’s first cut was 2 hours and 23 minutes long, which was eventually edited down to the 2 hours and 3 minutes that was released. On May 4, 2017, Alien: Covenant premiered in London. It was released in the United Kingdom on May 12 and in the United States on May 19.
The film received mostly positive reviews from critics, but it underperformed at the box office, grossing $240 million worldwide against a production budget of around $100 million, not including marketing costs.
