Julie Broughton is an American Meteorologist/Reporter/Traffic Anchor working for WKMG News serving the station as a Meteorologist/Reporter since August 2010. She now serves the station as a News Anchor for the 9 AM and 4 PM Newscasts whereby she brings the latest breaking stories in the community.

Broughton attended Indiana University Southeast where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology/Theatre. Later on, she went on to join Indiana University Bloomington where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, Journalism, and Speech Communications. Broughton later joined Mississippi State University where she studied between 1998 and 2001. There, she received a Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology and Broadcast Meteorology Program.

Broughton works for WKMG News where she serves the station as a News Anchor. Her career in Central Florida began more than 14 years ago. She arrived in Orlando in the year 2001 and covered hurricanes Frances, Jean, and Charley in the year 2004. This is in addition to covering the historic season in 2005. Despite forecasting being her first love, she loves the anchor role as it allows her to report on stories that are important to her viewers and their family.
Before making a move to Central Florida, she worked as an on-camera meteorologist in Chicago; Evansville, Indiana, and Oak Hill, W.V. She is a proud member of the National Weather Association Seal. Broughton is very passionate about animal welfare and has helped hundreds of animals find their “forever homes’ through her efforts with Pet Rescue by Judy. She reads a lot and needs one’s book recommendations. Away from anchoring the news, one may find her reading, taking a ridiculous amount of photos of her daughter, and writing.
