On April 15, 2021, it was announced that Jovita will undergo surgery on Friday after doctors discover 2 brain tumors. She underwent an MRI after noticing symptoms on Monday afternoon. Just before going on air Monday, she told Channel 2′s Justin Farmer that she wasn’t feeling great.“I was really concerned about why all of a sudden I was forgetful, disoriented, and just not feeling myself. Feeling like I was in a fog and really wanting to get out of that fog,” Moore said.After seeing the doctor, a scan of her brain revealed two small masses.
“It’s significant. It’s gonna be a lot. Two little tumors kind of near each other and they got to go,” she said. “We had to start than having a conversation about what that was and what that meant.”
Her neurosurgeon said the prognosis is still unclear and he and his team are crafting a plan of action. They will know a lot more after Friday’s surgery.
Moore asked the community for prayers as she begins this fight.“I know we have great viewers. I know that the prayer warriors are gonna be at work,” she said. “I just felt like it was something I needed to share. I didn’t want to just disappear from the air for a couple of months and I wanted people to know what was going on. Also, I want to feel that energy, that outpouring, and that support as well. I know they’re gonna bring it.”

Moore died Thursday night after a battle with brain cancer. She died seven months after being diagnosed with an incurable and aggressive form of brain cancer. The news of her death was announced by her co-anchor Justin Farmer, on WSB-TV at 9:48 a.m. today, Moore,” passed peacefully” as “as she wanted,” with her family by her side, her co-anchor at WSB-TV, Justin Farmer said.
