Jonathan Vigliotti’s Career
Vigliotti grew up in Westchester, New York, and earned a degree in journalism from Fordham University, where he was an Edward A. Walsh Scholar. He serves at CBS as the national correspondent for CBS News based in Los Angeles. He previously worked as an international correspondent for the London office of the network. His reporting features on all CBS News programs and networks, including “CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell,” “CBS This Morning,” “Sunday Morning,” “Face The Nation” and “48 Hours.”

Vigliotti has written to more than two dozen countries covering militant attacks in Europe, instability in the Middle East, the refugee crisis in the Mediterranean, and plastic waste in the Arctic in the United States. He was the first U.S. reporter to report on the Manchester Arena attack in England. His coverage was part of a body of work recognized by the Edward R. Murrow Award for General Excellence. In his in-depth report, he swam with endangered sperm whales off the coast of Sri Lanka, made argan oil with Moroccan Berber women, and reported on animal extinction in Kenya.
He joined CBS News in 2015 as a reporter for Newspath, the 24-hour news-gathering program of CBS News. Before CBS, Vigliotti worked on WNBC-TV in New York City, where he won Emmys for his story on the Boston bombing and Hurricane Sandy. He flew to Greenland for three weeks to focus on the effects of climate change on polar bears as part of a grant from the Pulitzer Disaster Reporting Center. He has also been a contributor to Current TV and the Leisure, Industry, and Sports pages of the New York Times.
Previously, Vigliotti appeared on WPLG-TV, the ABC station in Miami, Florida, where he covered the earthquake in Haiti and won Emmy for a half-hour prime-time special on the flaws in Florida gun laws. He started his career reporting to KJCT-TV in Grand Junction, Colorado.
