Growing up on a farm near Milan, Minnesota, and going to school in a small town has helped him to become the reporter he is today.
His journalism career started in Alexandria, Minnesota at KSAX-TV. From there, he moved to work at KWWL-TV in Waterloo, Iowa. Throughout his career, he has worked as a producer, anchor, reporter, editor, photographer, as well as a sports anchor, and reporter.
During his tenure at WCCO-TV, he has covered numerous stories including tornadoes, floods, and also blizzards that have dumped nearly two feet of snow on Minnesota. He has also reported sporting events, crime stories, human interest stories, and fire stories. Reports that highlight a special moment in someone’s life are his favorite stories.
In 2008, he covered the story of a soldier who came home from Iraq and surprised his daughter at her volleyball game. In addition, he reported on Minnesota’s only poisonous snake population in southeastern Minnesota and he managed not to get bit in the process though he is not fun of snakes.
