John Holt is an American award-winning journalist working for “FOX 4News serving as a co-anchor. He has been working for this station since 1994.

Holt graduated from the University of Kansas Schools. He serves as the co-anchor for “FOX 4 News at 5, 6, and 9 p.m.” and as an investigative and special projects reporter for FOX 4 News. He has also received a number of honors, including Regional Emmys for anchoring, news writing, investigative reporting, general assignment reporting, and feature reporting.

John was inducted into the NATAS Mid-America Emmy Chapter’s “Silver Circle” in 2018. Media Mix, a Kansas City-based media professionals group, named John TV Personality of the Year in 2000, 2006, and 2008. John was named an Ewing M. Kauffman Distinguished Eagle Scout by the Heart of America Boy Scout Council in 2015.

He was the Honorary Chair of the 2018 Heart of America Council “School Night For Scouting.” As a volunteer, John is involved in the community, serving on the boards of the Head for the Cure Foundation, the KU Advancement Board, and the Kansas Bar Association Media-Bar Committee.

He is a former board chair and member of Friends of Johnson County Developmental Supports, as well as a former board member of the KU Alumni Association-Kansas City Chapter Board. John emcees and hosts a number of events for metro area charities, including Benedictine College, The University of Kansas, The University of Kansas Hospital, Blue Valley Educational Foundation, The Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association, and The University of Kansas Hospital Foundation.

Holt was diagnosed with Prostate cancer back in 2010. Due to his annual checkups and PSA screening, his cancer was detected early. He says that he was very traumatized after the diagnosis and did not know what to do.

With John’s family history, his diagnosis wasn’t shocking because his grandfather succumbed to the same disease and his father is also a prostate cancer survivor. His wife was always by his side through this journey. He says,

“I’ll never forget getting the call. We were so sure the biopsy would be clean, I’m grinning into the phone, all happy, like, ‘Hey! Hope you’re calling me with good news!’” “Then I hear this pause,” John says. “Silence. And it hits me: I have cancer.”
