Besides working for CNN, Sutter has also been working for National Geographic (NatGeo) as an explorer since July 2019. There, he serves as a documentary filmmaker based in Salt Lake City, Utah. He also serves as the director of “BASELINE,” a documentary series aiming to tell the story of climate change beyond a human lifetime. Sutter has also been working for The Poynter Institute as a Visiting Instructor since October 2019.
