Joely Collins Cold Squad

Collins appeared as Christine Wren in the season 4and 7 of the Canadian police procedural television series Cold Squad. Matt MacLeod, Philip Keatley, and Julia Keatley created the series, which was produced by Keatley MacLeod Productions and Alliance Atlantis in collaboration with CTV Television Network and the Canadian Television Fund. Cold Squad is Vancouver’s first prime-time national television series. With seven seasons and 98 episodes, it became Canada’s longest-running prime-time drama series.

Cold Squad’s cast was diverse and ever-changing. Except for Julie Stewart, almost the entire cast was replaced and the series was revamped between the second and third seasons. The revision was intended to appeal to a younger audience as well as more male viewers. (Michael Hogan, who played the series’ main character Det. Tony Logozzo in Seasons 1 and 2, appeared in the third season’s two-part opener episode “Deadly Games” but then left the show.) The “Cold Squad” division was merged into a province-wide task force beginning with the third season, and its basement location was removed. These differences, along with significant variations in the title sequence (Seasons 1–2, 3–6, 7), theme music (Seasons 1–2, 3–4, 5–6, 7), new sets (Seasons 3–6, 7), and a change in McCormick’s hair color from auburn to blonde, as well as her wardrobe (particularly her jacket), contributed to a significant reworking of the series. Sgt. Ali McCormick was the only character to appear in all seven seasons.
