Sherman serves as an insider and host of MLB Tonight, Trade Deadline, MLB Now, National Baseball Hall of Fame, as well as the weekday morning show Hot Stove. In addition to his work at MLB Network, he is also working at the New York Post serving as a national baseball columnist. In 1984, he started working at United Press International. He went to New York University where he attained his bachelor’s degree in journalism.

1989, Sherman started working at the New York Post from 1989 to 1995 where he served as the beat writer for the Yankees and as the baseball columnist. He also worked at MSG Network’s SportsDesk, MSNBC’s The Last Word, SI.com, the YES Network, MSG Network’s SportsDesk, and New York 1’s Sports on One.
Sherman also worked at ESPN The Magazine, New York Magazine, and Sports Illustrated for Kids where he wrote freelance articles. From 1997 to 1998, he worked at the Baseball Writers’ Association of America as a chairman of the New York chapter. Prior to serving as chairman of the New York chapter, he had previously spent 2 years serving as a vice chairman.
In addition to that, he also worked on numerous national committees for the BBWAA like the National Baseball Hall of Fame Veterans Committee. Since 1998, he has been a Hall of Fame voter and has received several awards including the Dick Young Award. He is also the author of the book, Birth of a Dynasty: Behind the Pinstripes with the 1996 Yankees.
