Joel Brown is an American anchor/reporter working for ABC11 serving as an anchor. He has been working for the station for many years now.

Joel Brown Education

Brown attended Howard University where he studied and graduated. He attained a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and Education in 2001. While there, he reported for the university’s television station, WHUT. Citing this, Joel received the 2000 Ed Bradley Award for Excellence in Student Journalism.

Joel Brown Career

Brown anchors the 4 p.m. evening edition of Eyewitness News as well as his live reports from around the Triangle at 11 p. Prior to joining the network, he previously worked for CBS NewsPath, the network’s affiliate service where he served as the Washington-based correspondent. Additionally, also spent about 4 years enclosing politics from The White House and Capitol Hill.

He also toured many countries and states so as to enclose national news stories, including weeks on the road covering the historic 2008 presidential election. Brown reported Live on the final launch of NASA’s space shuttle program at Kennedy Space Center. 

Brown also worked for WSVN, Miami’s innovative Fox affiliate where he served as a reporter and fill-in anchor for 3 years. In 2005, he had a segment by the name of “break-out” which enclosed the minute-by-minute details of the Terri Schiavo “right to die” case. He also managed to enclose his share of tropical weather, including the ’05 Hurricane season, which was the busiest on record.

Prior to Miami, he previously worked for KETK, the NBC affiliate in Tyler, TX. It was at this station that his career in journalism started. When he left east Texas, he was the station’s 5:00 anchor and education beat reporter.
