Jessica Savage Career

Savage anchors the 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. weekday newscasts and is also the station’s lead reporter. Growing up, she attended H.V. Jenkins High School where she graduated, and later on attended Southern Methodist University where she attained her degree in journalism. Soon after graduating, she worked as a newspaper reporter in East Texas.

While here, she enclosed the murder investigation into the deaths of dialysis patients and received industry recognition. It is also here that she developed a knack for accessing and analyzing public records. Savage then moved on to work for the Corpus Christi Caller-Times and NBC-affiliate KRIS 6 News in South Texas. She worked for the Corpus Christi Caller-Times and NBC-affiliate KRIS 6 News for a while and soon after left the stations to join WTOC.

Her series of investigative reports exposed plans by a school district to build a new high school campus in a Navy crash zone – despite written concerns from the U.S. Navy. Furthermore, her investigative reports prompted the school district to relocate the high school campus. Savage’s reporting also uncovered a loophole in Texas election laws, which allowed a candidate to escort voters into the polls and help them cast ballots.

She also exposed false credentials touted by the mayor of Corpus Christi, which led to his abrupt resignation, and forced the city to hold a special election. Whenever she is not working, she finds pleasure in spending her free time with her family and friends. She also loves it when she gets some time with her husband and two children.
