McDermed’s passion for weather started when she was young. She started her career shortly after graduating working at KQTV in St. Joseph, Missouri. In November 2013, McDermed joined the WHO-TV 13 weather team in Des Moines, Iowa and after two years she joined KMBC 9 in Kansas City.

Throughout the past few years, McDermed has worked in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas where she has tracked several tornadoes. In 2012, she tracked a tornado near Lyons, Kansas which was rated an EF-4. This was was her biggest tornado chase. Working in Minnesota, McDermed forecasts for blizzards and severe weather. When coming to her education, McDermed attended and graduated from St. Louis University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology, in May 2013.

McDermed is very active besides having a passion for all types of weather. When free, she loves playing basketball and volleyball games, kayaking, hiking, and triathlons. She also loves meeting people and creating new adventures! She has a Newfoundland dog, Millie, who is a perfect partner for her outdoor adventures.
