She joined the station as a reporter and she anchors “WCCO Saturday Morning” from 8-9 a.m. Mayerle has been part of the 10 ‘o clock news team since joining WCCO and they were honored for their reports on the arrest of his kidnapper, Jacob Wetterling’s case, and killer, Danny Heinrich with a regional Murrow award.

She shared a story of a young girl with cancer who, along with her sisters, formed a friendship with their garbage men through “Spreading Kindness,” and the RTNDA recognized her with a Murrow. The  Minnesota chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists awarded her an Emmy.

Mayerle has reported several major golf tournaments including The Masters, she was fascinated to cover the 2016 Ryder Cup. Her career started in Midland, Texas at KWES as a weekend reporter and anchor. It was a small market but she grew to appreciate the beauty of rolling tumbleweeds and learned the value of self-sufficiency.

Her career has taken her to visit the war memorials in Washington, D.C. with Minnesota war veterans on their Honor Flight. While there, she observed the changing of the guard with them at Arlington National Cemetery. In addition, she broke an investigation on counterfeit smoke detectors purchased by the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department and distributed them to low-income residents and saved lives.

She likes being involved in the community as well as volunteering. Mayerle is a mentor on the Advisory Board for the Assistance League of Minneapolis St. Paul and with Minnetonka High School’s VANTAGE program. Mayerle attended the University of San Diego where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Mass Media.

Her in-depth look at the long-lasting impact of concussions and repeated hits to the head to athletes from the youth to the pro level landed her to receive an Emmy. The Georgia legislators passed a law designed to protect young athletes, The Return to Play Act with the help of Mayerle’s report. In 2011, she reported on Ann Bartlett, a woman who died in a house fire due, Jennifer discovered, to the failure of firefighters to respond adequately to Bartlett’s 911 call and she won a Georgia Associated Press, Murrow, and an Emmy award.
