Fernandez serves as an anchor and reporter at WPLG Local 10 News. Prior to joining WPLG Local 10 News, she worked at WEAR based in Pensacola where she served as a fill-in anchor as well as a reporter. During her tenure at WEAR-TV, she enclosed the historic flooding in April 2014, the funeral of Col. Bud Day, the Escambia County jail explosion, and F-35 training kicking off at Eglin Air Force Base.
Fernandez began her TV career working at KATC based in Layette, Louisiana where she served as an anchor as well as a reporter. During her time in KATC, she enclosed the murder and disappearance of college student Mickey Shunick which earned her a Suncoast Regional Emmy nomination. Before working at KATC, she was an intern at WPLGLocal 10 News.
Fernandez went to Florida International University where she attained her Bachelor of Science in communications and minor in psychology in 2010. She is also an active member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and is a former Miss Miami. In 2010, she was placed fourth runner-up at the 2010 Miss Florida Pageant. Whenever she is not working, she enjoys spending her free time with her Cuban family and friends. She also enjoys watching the latest movies, trying out new restaurants| and recipes, writing, and traveling.
