Shaylor serves at CBS as the executive producer of the “CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell,” a role he has held since October 2019. Since landing at CBS News, Shaylor has made key improvements to the show, including overseeing the historic relocation to Washington, DC in December 2019. Under his leadership, the media has expanded its audience and sought to differentiate itself through in-depth reporting and television interviews. Shaylor is also a member of the Diversity Advisory Committee of the News Division.
Shaylor is an Emmy, Peabody, and Murrow Award-winning journalist with over two decades of news-gathering experience and editorial leadership. Prior to joining CBS News, he spent six years as executive producer of “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer,” CNN’s flagship two-hour weekday newscast covering news, world affairs, national security, and politics. During his tenure at CNN, she was at the forefront of the control room overseeing live coverage of many of the biggest news headlines of the decade—from the San Bernardino and Paris terror attacks to the killing of FBI Director James Comey.
Shaylor was also in the chair during some of the most critical moments of the 2016 presidential campaign and special advisor probe of Russian political interference—from the naming of Robert Mueller until his last testimony before the Congress. In addition to coordinating regular coverage and breaking news, he was part of a team that created CNN’s election nights and special events. His squad was nominated for 11 Emmy Awards during his time there.
Prior to joining CNN, he was the senior producer of ABC’s “Good Morning America” responsible for coordinating editorial production and broadcasting during the evening and midnight hours. In 2012, he was part of the senior team responsible for bringing “Good Morning America” to first place, completing NBC’s 16-year winning streak in the morning. At ABC News, Shaylor also worked as one of Diane Sawyer’s flagship producers, created investigative and spot news reports, and was the “Good Morning America’s” primary producer in the field during news breaks. He started his journalism career as a news reporter.
