Previously he was working at KGTV in San Diego as a morning anchor for four years. While there, he covered immigration issues, the international border conflict, California’s cost of living crisis, and the devastating Lilac Fire, which destroyed more than 200 homes.
Four five years earlier, Martinez was at WPLG in Miami prior to joining KGTV. While at WPLG, he reported some of the wildest “only in Florida” stories of his career. In addition, covered two Miami Heat NBA championships, fake plastic surgeons, Presidential elections in the swing state, a violent face-eating incident, and US-Cuba relations.
