In 2018, he was also recruited into the NHIAA Hall of Fame. He was awarded the “Broadcaster of the Year” by the New Hampshire Association of Broadcasters in 2017. The award honors his tireless and extraordinary efforts to aid so many people in need, as well as his work as a journalist covering important events such as the Boston Marathon bombing. He established the “ChaD Battle of the Badges” hockey game as a spokesperson for the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth. The yearly police-fire competition in New Hampshire has raised 2.7 million dollars for CHaD. Staton started a food drive at high school football games called “New Hampshire Tackles Hunger.” 470,000 pounds of food have been collected for needy families through New Hampshire Tackles Hunger.

He also serves as the emcee for a number of events, including the Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Program, which he has been doing since 2006. Staton is a 6-time runner for the Boston Marathon. He has raised over $70,000 for Special Olympics New Hampshire at the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth by channeling his passion for helping local charities.
