Edmonds serves at WDIV as the sports anchor and reporter. She was drafted by the Local 4 sports team in January 2013. She anchors sports coverage Saturdays at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m., and on Sundays at 6 p.m. Edmonds includes professional sports teams, including the Tigers, Lions, Pistons, and Red Wings of Detroit, as well as college and university teams. She covers a wide range of sports and news stories, hosts the Sports Final Edition program, and uses social media to keep in touch with her devoted fans.
She worked for several years in Lansing at WILX-TV, where she covered a broad variety of subjects, so you could see her on our newscasts during the week. Jamie is overjoyed to have hockey back in Motown! It’s the “favorite” sport of the former professional figure skater. She even played girls’ high school hockey in Pittsburgh, but now she just skates in her spare time to teach kids at local rinks.
Jamie earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware, where she and her figure skating team won a national championship in 2002. Jamie also earned a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
During her nearly 15 years of broadcasting, she has won two “best sportscast” awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. She’s also been nominated twice by the National Sports Media Association for Michigan Sportscaster of the Year.
