Travers is a proud graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology. She graduated from there with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. She also holds a Master’s degree in Meteorology from Saint Louis University. For her high school, Travers is a 2004 alumnus of Parkway Central High School.

Travers serves at FOX 2 as a Meteorologist appearing every morning on Saturdays and Sundays. Also, he appears every midday from Monday to Friday. Travers’s interest in weather developed from her love for tornadoes. Her first experience with a tornado was when she was young, whereby her home in Chesterfield was destroyed by the deadly F4 tornado of January 1967. The tornado ripped through Creve Coeur, Chesterfield, and Maryland Heights of St. Louis County, in Missouri.
Travers began her journalism career at the CBS and The CW Affiliate, KFVS-TV in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. From there, she went to work for KSN in Wichita, Kansas. The American Meteorological Society (AMS) awarded the Travers Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal of approval in December 2014.
While at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Travers served at the National Weather Service office in Peachtree City, Georgia as a student volunteer. Travers’s thesis analyzed atmospheric environments similar to the catastrophic flooding event of May 2010 in Nashville, Tennessee. The research was motivated by the easy fact, “flooding is the top cause of weather-related deaths.” While at Saint Louis University, the results of her research were used to design products for National Weather Service offices around the nation. Travers worked as an intern at KTVI/KPLR during the summer of the year 2010.
During Travers’s leisure time, she likes cheering the Blues and the Cardinals, as well as exploring the outdoors. Her favorite day trip is having a bike ride on the Katy Trail through Missouri’s wine country. Travers also enjoys cooking or hosting BBQs on the patio when she is free.
