She grew up in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood, attended St. Brendan High School, and graduated in 1984. Nespral began her entertainment and television career as a college student at the University of Miami, where she was elected Orange Bowl Queen in 1985 as well as 1986 and inducted into the UM’s Iron Arrow Honor Society. She also earned degrees in psychology and communications from the University of Miami. Following her graduation from the University of Miami, Nespral attended Florida International University in Miami, Florida, to pursue a degree in print and broadcast journalism.

Nespral serves as the anchor for the NBC 6 News at 5 p.m. 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m. After three years of commuting between Miami and New York, she decided to stay in South Florida and work for NBC6. Jackie also hosts Impact, a locally produced half-hour show about politics and current events that airs on Sundays at 9:30 a.m.
Nespral also rose to prominence at NBC News for her interviews with prominent figures ranging from national and international leaders to celebrities. Furthermore, she has extensive experience covering stories such as the first US presidential visit to Havana, Papal visits to Cuba, presidential inaugurations, presidential debates, hurricanes, and World Series and NBA championships, to name a few. Her work has also been recognized with six Emmys and a Silver Circle Award over the course of her 25-year career in the industry.
Prior to joining NBC News, Nespral was the anchor of the Univision network’s one-hour live national newscast “Noticias y Más” in 1991. She also worked as a reporter and weekend anchor for “Televisión Marti” and Dynamic Cablevision, Miami’s CNN affiliate. Nespral has also remained a well-known figure in the community. She is a former member of the University of Miami’s Board of Trustees, as well as the first Hispanic woman past president of the University of Miami Alumni Association. Additionally, she also serves on the board of directors and is actively involved in Amigos For Kids.
Nespral also serves on the boards of the March of Dimes, the Columbia Women’s Center, South Miami Hospital’s Child Development Center, and The University of Miami’s School of Communications. In addition, as the Orange Bowl Queen from 1985-86, she gained a unique perspective of the community. She was also nominated for the University of Minnesota’s highest honor. She was also nominated for the University of Miami’s highest honor, the Iron Arrow. Nespral graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a minor in Communications. She also pursued post-graduate studies in print and broadcast journalism at Florida International University for two years.
