Heather Waliga Career
Waliga serves as the Morning Anchor at WBIR-TV & Fox43. She is overjoyed to be back in Knoxville, relaying her hometown’s story. She began her career at WBIR as an intern while attending the University of Tennessee. Heather relocated to Panama City, Florida after graduation, where she produced and anchored weekend newscasts for the local NBC station and shot and edited her own stories.

She then relocated to Charlotte, where she worked as a key anchor for a statewide cable news network. Heather covered the 2012 Democratic National Convention and the March on Wall Street South, among other historic events. She also co-hosted the 75th Miss North Carolina pageant, which won an Emmy for the best live broadcast.
Heather most recently worked in Raleigh as an anchor and reporter, covering three NCAA Championships with Duke and UNC. She also covered the Charlotte Riot and the 50th Annual CMA Awards red carpet live from Nashville. In March 2018, Heather returned to WBIR to co-anchor Fox 43 News This Morning and 10News at Noon.
She’s won a number of honors, including one from the Tennessee Associated Press Broadcasters and Media Editors for her ‘Live A Little’ series, which highlighted the need for more mentors with Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee. Heather is a passionate advocate for community service and a VOLunteer at heart. She devotes a lot of her time outside of the studio to raising awareness and funding for Down Syndrome research and education in honor of her sister.
