She grew up in Atlanta and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At UNC, Heather majored in Electronic Communications in the Journalism school, while also lettering in volleyball. As one who is a competitor at heart, she participates in a variety of athletic events and triathlons. Catlin completed her first half iron man triathlon in May 2009 (finishing in just over 6 ½ hours) and in local events including the Peachtree Road Race and Thanksgiving half-marathon.
